2. Curriculum & Learning
Q: What is the HILE model?
HILE stands for Humanistic & Investigative Learning Environment. It is based on inquiry, real-world projects, and student agency, inspired by Finnish and Scandinavian pedagogical principles and Best Practices from around the World.
Q: How is the curriculum structured?
Students follow a structured, moduled interdisciplinary learning pathway. Modules integrate multiple subjects around thematic, interdisciplinary investigations, combining academic rigour with project-based learning.
Q: Can prior learning be recognised?
Yes. Students’ prior learning, including completed courses from previous schools, may be reviewed and recognised to create an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) aligned with the moduled pathway and certification requirements.
Q: What is an Individual Learning Plan (ILP)?
An ILP is a personalised roadmap for each student that considers prior learning, sets learning goals, and maps progress through the school’s modules toward Pearson Edexcel qualifications.
3. Certification & Examinations
Q: Does the school offer recognised qualifications?
Yes. Students prepare for Pearson Edexcel qualifications through approved external examination pathways.
Q: How are examinations conducted?
Examinations are taken via approved external centres. Depending on the qualification, online examinations may be conducted using the Remote Invigilation Service, which ensures secure and supervised assessments.
Q: Who supervises online examinations?
Approved external partners provide supervision in accordance with Pearson Edexcel regulations.
Q: Does recognition of prior learning affect certification?
No. Individual Learning Plans ensure alignment with external examination requirements, maintaining full eligibility for Pearson Edexcel qualifications.
4. Blended Learning & Student Support
Q: What is blended learning at LET International School?
Blended learning combines on-site instruction with guided online study. Students receive mentoring and support while progressing through independent and collaborative projects.
Q: Can students progress at different paces?
Yes. While the moduled pathway is structured, students may progress through modules at a pace suitable to their learning plan, with mentoring support.
Q: How are students supported?
Students receive regular mentoring, guidance in project work, and ongoing assessment feedback to support their Individual Learning Plans.
5. Admissions & Eligibility
Q: Who can apply?
International students aged 16–21 who seek a structured, meaningful, and personalised learning experience.
Q: How does admissions work?
Admissions involve expression of interest, documentation review (including prior learning), and discussion of the student’s Individual Learning Plan to ensure fit with the school’s philosophy.
Q: Is there a limit on the number of students?
Yes. Cohorts are intentionally small to ensure personalised support and meaningful interactions.
6. Scholarships
Q: Do you offer scholarships?
Yes. LET International School offers a limited number of scholarships in the form of partial tuition reductions.
Q: Who can apply?
Students aged 16–21 applying for International GCSE and/or A/AS Levels, with sufficient English proficiency and strong learning motivation.
Q: What are scholarships based on?
Scholarships are awarded based on a holistic assessment, including academic potential, motivation, personal development, and alignment with the HILE pedagogical model.
Q: How do I apply?
Applicants must submit a school application and complete a Scholarship Application Form, including a motivation letter and academic records.
Q: Are scholarships available for all years?
Scholarships are typically awarded for the first year and may be renewed based on satisfactory progress and continued engagement.
Q: Are international students eligible?
Yes. Scholarships are open to both local and international students.
Q: When will I receive a decision?
Decisions are communicated after the admission assessment and before enrolment confirmation.
7. Fees & Tuition
Q: Is the registration fee refundable?
No. The registration fee is a one-time, non-refundable fee payable upon acceptance. It covers administrative processing, assessment, and enrolment costs.
Q: Is the tuition fee refundable if a student withdraws?
Tuition fees are generally non-refundable once the academic year has started. In exceptional circumstances, partial refunds may be considered in accordance with the school’s withdrawal and refund policy.
Q: Are international examination fees included in the tuition fee?
Preparation for international certification, including Pearson (Edexcel), is included. External examination fees charged by examination boards may be invoiced separately.
Q: Are fees the same for Belgian and international students?
Yes. Tuition and registration fees are the same for Belgian and international students.
Q: Are payment plans available?
Yes. Tuition fees may be paid annually or in agreed instalments, as outlined in the enrolment agreement.
